The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to operate and maintain a range of hand and powered horticultural machinery and implements Learning outcomes: on completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Identify a range of machinery and hand tools 2. Use a range of hand tools for soil cultivation 3. Describe the working principles of internal combustion engines used in horticulture 4. Use a range of hand operated mowers 5. Use a pedestrian operated rotary cultivator 6. Use a hedge cutter 7. Use a strimmer 8. Use a knapsack or tractor mounted sprayer 9. Service a diesel or two and four stroke petrol engine
