It is STRONGLY recommended you purchase the Basic study guide and attend [either an in-person or online class](https://www.rac.ca/amateur-radio-courses/) such as those offered by Radio Amateurs of/du Canada (RAC). While self-study is possible, experienced instructors working from a well-developed syllabus add context and will prepare you to be a safe, courteous, efficient, and effective radio operator.
