About Driver's Ed on Brainscape
What is Drivers-Ed?
We all have our reasons why we want to learn how to drive. Whether you want to avoid stress in catching the last train or can’t wait to cruise around the streets of California off your dad’s backseat, there are many benefits on learning how to drive.
But of course, it’s not as easy as riding a carousel or mowing the lawn. Every state has its own rules and regulations before you start steering the wheel and going places with or without a fast car.
Several states in the US now require completion of a driver’s ed course to obtain a learner’s permit. Driver’s Ed is a program/class that prepares an individual in getting a driver’s license or a student/learner’s permit. It may take place in a vehicle, in a classroom, via online courses, or a combination of any of these.

Most Driver's Ed program comprises of 30 hours of classroom education, 12 hours of on-the-road driving instruction, few hours of observed-driving sessions from a professional driver, and a two to three-hour driver safety course.
To make it through all these steps, you’ll need to understand and keep in mind all the safety rules and regulations related to driving. You may also need to memorize various street and highway signs, as well as tips and techniques for defensive and eco-driving.

It means that we have a technology that was previously only available to the military! Our study cards contain not just images of street signs, but also sounds, visuals, and situations that make the driving study sessions come to life.
Brainscape’s platform is also based on a scientific algorithm developed by learning specialists to boost the process of retrieving and storing memories and the latest spaced repetition research. We termed this new learning system as “Cognitive Based Repetition” (CBR). CBR makes use of the most effective learning processes – Active Recall, Metacognition, and Spaced Repetition.
