(1) I am the Lord your God , You shall not have Strange gods before Me
Strange god : anything/anybody that addicts or consumes you , or acts like idol too you or consumes too much of your time at the expense of god or neighbor
Examples may be :
- Money , alcohol , drugs , sex , viewing pronography , gambling
- Social Media consumption , taxing , emails , celebrity following , being a groupie
-TV. Video games , fantasy sport , watching sports
Other things that go against the first commandment :
- Witchcraft / wizardry / fortunetelling/ superstitions / mediums / spells / omens . horoscopes
- Mistreating scared person / place / things ( all a sacrilege)
- Worshiping saints / Mary / Statues . It is OK to pray to them or intercede / pray for us to God
-Presuming you can save yourself without God , or believing God won’t help save your soul
