What is the cell cycle?
The cell cycle is the sequence of events in the cell from one cell division to another.
spindle fibres attach to what
Spindle fibres attach to the sister chromatids and pull them apart during the anaphase.
Mitosis
Spindle fibres attach to the sister chromatids
Interphase
It’s the longest stage of the cell cycle where cell grows, copies DNA, prepares to divide.
Prophase
The first stage of mitosis, sister chromatids are formed during interphase have shortened and thickened.
Metaphase
Second stage, spindle completely formed, sister chromatids attach to spindle fibers, sister chromatids line up along middle of cell, halfway between the poles of the cell
Anaphase
Third stage, S.C are pulled apart by spindle and move to the opposite poles of the cell. Chromatids called chromosomes again
Telophase
Last stage, new chromosomes reached opposite poles of cell, nuclear membranes form, spindle disappears, chromosomes lengthen and thin, nucleoli reappear. (Prophase reversed)
Cytokinesis
Second process in cell division. Begins at the end of mitosis (during telophase) Cytokinesis divides the cytoplasm into 2 daughter cells
