What makes the 2nd Declension unique
The 2nd Declension is the only one in which the vocative differs from the nominative, and it does this only in the singular form and in masculine/ feminine nouns.
For nouns whose nominative is -us, the vocative is -e
If the nominative sg ending is ‘-ius’, what would the vocative singular ending be?
-Ī
If the nominative sg ending is ‘-us’, what would the vocative ending be?
-e
If the ending of the 2nd declension in the nom sg is not ‘us’ ‘ius’ or a proper noun, what will its vocative ending be
the same as the nominative ending; nom: puer, voc: puer.
