If the setting is 28.99 or lower, or 31.00 or higher, state the setting twice
Do not relay altimeter settings to a pilot that are any of the following:
■ Taken by a pilot [3]
■ Contained in a report of unofficial weather [4]
■ Obtained from a situation display
Issue wind direction and speed as calm if the wind speed is:
■ 2 knots or less on an analog dial indicator instrument
■ 00 knot on a digital reading instrument, EXCDS, METAR, SPECI or automated
observation.
Except for justifiable deviation, apply air-ground communications in the following
priority:[1]
1. Distress messages (MAYDAY) or related traffic
2. Urgency messages (PAN PAN) or MEDEVAC flights
3. Flight safety messages (including ATC messages), position reports, or, for
example, the provision of FISE or significant meteorological information
4. Regular meteorological messages or flight regularity messages
(knowledge checks good)
There are many interactions between various ATS units. In order to
make a voice call to the ACC, FIC, or TOCC use the following
procedures:
ACC – State the name of the ACC followed by the word CENTRE.
FIC – State the name of the FIC followed by the letters FIC.
TOCC – State the name of the TOCC followed by the letters TOCC.
