A
- DNA helicase breaks H bonds between complementary base pairs (unwinds double helix)
- free DNA nucleotides attract to exposed bases and form H bond with complementary bases
- phosphodiester bonds are formed between adjacent nucleotides (catalysed by DNA polymerase)
