preparation for standing- foot manipulation
-what is important / what does it involve/ what does the foot need to reach
-important to prep the foot
-involves soft tissue mobilisation of the calf and passive stretches into dorsiflexion
-need the foot to reach plantar grade to provide a good base of support
describe how you would prep the legs/ feet for standing
-massage / stretching techniques on the calf
-massage achilles tendon (cartilage so around it)
-massage plantar fascia (responsible for movement off toe in walking)
name the 4 STS phases
-flexion momentum phase
-momentum transfer phase
-extension phase
-stability phase
STS facilitation
-knee blocking
-progression= unaffected leg forward meaning more weight on affected leg
strengthening LL and balance in standing with progression
-perched siting to standing
-progress to lower sitting
-transfer weight onto affected limb (gently)
-heel lifts/block with good leg (offloads weight onto hemi side)
