What is continuous training?
Low intensity exercise for long-periods of time without rest intervals e.g. jogging, swimming, rowing. Aerobic power and stamina. Designed to improve your cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
What is fartlek training?
Where the intensity and terrain is varied. Targets Aerobic power. Can involve both aerobic and anaerobic work.
Interval training?
Involves periods or intervals of high-intensity work are followed with recovery periods. Targets anaerobic power
Circuit training?
A series of exercises at a set station. Targets Muscular endurance, can incorporate all types of fitness
Weight training?
It involves doing a series of resistance exercises through the use of free weights or fixed weights. Targets Muscular strength (low reps e.g. 1 rep max) / Muscular Endurance (high reps)
Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) training?
An advanced stretching technique. Is a form of passive stretching where the stretch position is held by
something other than the agonist muscle (wall or partner). Muscle isometrically contracts for at least 10 seconds. Targets flexibility
