The loss of the actual data. This can be through human error or by equipment failure

Usually motivated by the desire to have a negative impact on an individual or an organisation. W.g. Viruses that can delete data or magnetic wiping

What is intentional tampering with data

The data is still available but it has been tampered with making it unreliable
