The police may be called upon to assist if a person on probation re offendes the police will arrest an offender released from prison who breaches the terms of his or her release and is recalled there will be overseeing with all of the prisoners who have served a sentence and released on licence

The probation service may be asked to produce a pre-sentnce report on the defendant for the court and some cases may discuss issues with the defence lawyer supervising offenders who have been given a community sentence by the court supervising drug testing under the courts orders probation officers will attend the court and provide advice about any breaches the judge or magistrates could order a probation report

The judge decides imprisonment including length and type prisons carry out the custodial sentences that the court has imposed on offenders supervising defendant’s who have been remanded in custody refused bail by court held in court cells pending their court hearing and return to prison facilitating visits from defence lawyers to their clients in prison

Prisoners are held locally once arrested and are transported to prisons if a remand into custody has been ordered by the courts. Police would arret a prisoner recalled whilst on probation and endure return to prison facilitating interviews with prisoners involved in ongoing police investigations
