The major product was formed via the more stable give number e.g. 2^0 carbocation as opposed to the give smaller number e.g. 1^0 carbocation. This is due to the fact that the give number e.g. 2 alkyl groups have a more positive inductive effect than only give smaller number e.g. 1 alkyl group(s)
