What is leadership?
That is a great question, what is leadership? There are a mirage of answers, all likely with a level of correctness. Maybe one of the most cliche ones would be when your employees will follow you anywhere, into anything. However to me Leadership is about embracing the diversity of your team. By embracing the diversity of your team, from culture, skill set, background and experiences you can identify and exemplify their strengths and build on their weaknesses. The ability to recognize and identify the weaknesses and strengths of each team member and raise them up to become better teammates allows them to operate with a higher level of skill and greater confidence. This in turn allows your team to provide a better service to the citizen’s we are sworn to protect. The ability to raise each team member up to be the best they can be is the definition of leadership I resonated most with, and in turn, the cliche answers will become reality and fall into place.
