Q

——–describes the majority who earn too much for subsidized housing, generally anything over $35,000 annually but just under the median requirement to be categorized as ‘High-Income, which would be anything less than $100,00. For example, in Haslet, Texas you would typically find houses that look uniform, same structure, same shrubs that decorate the front porch, and similar if not the exact same size Backyards.

They may also have really nice pools or fountains. The housing will have a lot of glass, nice tile or carpet. Most will be found in gated communities with 24 hour security and cameras. They have really well kept roads and sidewalks. They will also have nice parks or universities near them. You can find these homes near nice shops and restaurants. Q

——— is like the part of the city you see big skyscrapers and famous buildings and offices all clustered together. It’s a really busy area during the day and night due to people rushing to work so it’s a really crowded so there is many ways for transportation such as trains, buses, and cars all meeting at one central spot. The buildings usually expand upward due to the lack of space outwards since they are trying to eliminate urban sprawl. Famous CBDS include London, Tokyo, and Manhattan. This zone causes areas to develop and build around it since it is the central most important part. This zone is typically more likely to be crowded and an area where more people walk rather than drive.

In this zone your most likely to see big clustered factories, heavy industry, and heavy duty manufacturing. In the outer area you’ll see more transportation such as highways, railroads, and ports, making it less expensive to export goods sin
ce its closer. Since products are being made when they are finished you most likely will see warehouses and pollution also gravel road

Q

——– is the providing of services in a community. You would see places like hospitals, law offices, parking lots and garages, office buildings, as well as sidewalks. In more developed countries there will be a wider variety of these service zones like special hospitals for brain surgery than in developing countries which would have more dispersed and spread out zones with less specific doctor offices.. For example, in Fort Worth there is many opportunities for specific services like advanced law offices provided, rather than Haslet, where you would find less law offices to provide these services

Q

A shopping mall is normally located in a high populated spot in a city to bring in more income, there’s many things to do! There’s food courts/restaurant, clothing, shoes, home, skating, ect. In developing countries, malls tend to be smaller with a less variety and cheaper clothing. Meanwhile, in developed countries, mall tend to be bigger, more luxury stores, and more workers. The more developed your country is then the more luxurious the shopping areas are. Many large parking lots are to be found in these spaces due to high traffic of people. In more developed countries it will be in city centers and more formal areas however in developing countries it is placed outside more residential areas.

Q

The Central Business District is a central business district, where corporations and factories can afford the land. The Zone of Transition is mostly lower-income housing, but is in poor conditions to allow for easy renovation if the CBD needs to expand further. The people here would mostly rent these properties from wealthier landlords who can afford the higher land costs. The Zone of Independent Workers’ Homes is middle-income housing for more stable working class citizens, while the Zone of Middle-Class Residences is also middle-income, edging on higher income in areas especially toward the edge. Finally the Commuters’ Zone is high-income housing for people who can afford to own cars and drive into the city for professional work.

Most likely the activities of the industrial zone, shopping areas and service employment zone would be found primarily in the Central Business District in this model.

Q

The CBD is in the center of the model since it is where all the business and shopping areas are this makes it very convenient to get to the CBD. The Manufacturing and light industry sectors extend outward from the CBD towards railroad lines and towards areas of low income workers, while the lower income workers continue to move towards the manufacturing and industrial zones. Low income residential is next to the CBD since it’s the downtown area of the town. This makes this place more run down compared to the Middle and High Income housing. This model makes the Low income housing right next to the CBD because usually people they live in low income areas tend to be next to the center of the city. The Middle-income residential is placed around the outer layer of the model in zone 4, but around the central business district. It is on a smaller plot of land in suburbs clusters around the residential area of the wealthy. The houses are medium sized. High-income residentials have bigger houses, nicer yards, and are very well kept because of their high income industry. Higher-income inhabitants move outward from the CBD. It was the beginning of urban sprawl as a car based living due to the higher availability of better quality transportation cars. High Income has the best overall living conditions. The shopping areas will most likely be located in the CBD or along zone 5 with the higher income residentials.

Q

Rather than being set up concentric rings the Nuclei-Model was build in order to include modern transportation and the sprawling suburbs. In The CBD, while still a distinctive district with businesses, law firms, and specialized hospitals, has become decentralized in order to cater to the growing High-income Population. Wholesale, light manufacturing is an industrial zone because it’s closer to one of the main CBD’s allowing easier access to transportation. Zone 3, is categorized also by low-income residents due to the need to maintain short commute to their primary form of work. Zone 4 is a middle-income residential zone due to section 4 being near the CBD they are closer to offices, businesses, etc. making them a middle-income residential. Zone 5 is a high-income residential zone because it is closest to the CBD that has similar services as to the main CBD. The heavy manufacturing Zone, is home to more labor ad technology intensive workplaces because of their need for the space in order to thrive, in this zone you would find a lot of factories and it would be very polluted by gases and smoke. Outlying business district Is located some distance from the central business district and offers many of the same services to inhabitants in the surrounding residential areas, but is more focused on shopping and miscellaneous services. Residential suburb is one of the Exurbs located in more rural areas. This zone is a middle-income residential because of the services such as dental offices that allow for middle-income families to live there with services being close by.
Industrial suburb is classified as low income residential due to being far out. Being the farest from the CBD, causes it to have the lowest income due to not being close to the city and resources.

Q

In this model, the CBD remains in the middle but has been decentralized. Different stores, offices, and industrial building are linked by a beltway. There is high rise buildings surrounded by urban sprawl such as the Suburban Residential Area which are the greater most space. This is most likely for middle-class houses. The high income housing may be found on the outskirts of the city and closer from the shopping centers and CBD. Low income housing is found near the Industrial Zones. In suburban residential areas, there are shopping malls that create jobs for citizens and is also easier to access since it is usually closer due to it being in a ring shaped city. This would fall under the Shopping Area category. These malls are usually more luxurious compared to other malls. The Industrial Districts are near the outskirts of the city and would be apart of the Industrial Zone. The Service Centers are easily accessible to the public through transportations such as highways they are apart of the Service employment. The Airport Complex could fall under Service Employment or another category because it transports people from place to place. Office parks are located around middle-class residential areas, and they are usually located near highways so it is easier for employees to go to work. This makes it so people don’t drive out to the CBD because jobs are near housing. This falls into the service employment category. Employment and Shopping Centers provide people with jobs and services that live on the edge of the city, this would be apart of Shopping Areas.

Q

The Latin American City also known as The Griffin-Ford model was developed in 1980 to describe unique urban structures of cities in Middle and South America. It reflects the rapid growth of modern industrialization. This model represents the CBD which focuses on business and entertainment. The second part of the CBD has a spine of transportation connecting to the mall, which is a shopping area as well. A traditional market sector known as a shopping area selling everyday goods is just above the CBD. industrial park for the lower income housings based on the jobs. On the outer edge called “periferico”, it’s the low income section. Surrounding the CBDs, there are the zone of maturity which is middle income housing with a section of gentrification which is the conversion from low income to high income. The ring surrounding the middle class is the zone of situ accretion which is transitional zone containing modest houses for the lower middle class. This zone is the part in between where the city turns into a rural area. The two disamenity sectors connecting from the CBD to the periferico part are generally the lowest income part running with drug lords and such. The green zone following the spine of the CBD is for the richest part as they follow transportation and the mall for business opportunities and more. Lastly, the middle class residential tract is the layer around the rich part. This middle class section is the neighborhood suburban area.

Q

The Sub-Saharan African Model has three central business districts, the Colonial CBD, the Traditional CBD, and the Market Zone. The Colonial CBD is a place known for having informal markets and a transitional business center. The Traditional CBD is a zone of traditional one-story buildings. The Market Zone is essential to the city’s residents, it falls under the shopping zone. The lower income will be on the outskirts of the CBD and the higher income areas will be on the inside of the CBD. This is because people are separated by ethnicity rather than by income. As for the Mining and Manufacturing zones are designed to boost local industrialization. Informal Satellite and Townships refers to the rapid growth, unlicensed, and often impoverished squatter settlements on the outermost areas of the city.
