blocks angiotensin II from binding at the receptor
Physiological effects of blocking angiotensin II? (not adverse effects)
Indications?
HTN, HF, MI, diabetic nephropathy, protect against MI, stroke, and death from CV causes in high risk patients.
Adverse effects?
angioedema, fetal harm, renal failure (d/t renal stenosis)
-Does not cause hyperkalemia or cough
Who should not take this medication?
pregnant and pts with renal artery stenosis
How are these medications taken?
PO with or without food
