Explain sampling techniques

1. Quadrats (sqaure frames) put on ground. Number of organisms in frame are then counted
2. Transect lines (tapes laid across an environment). Count number of organisms along the tape (plants) to study distribution.
3. Nets used to catch animals (butterflies/fish) allowing to count and record the distribution
4. Pooters (containers with a straw device) used to suck small animals (can be identified and counted)
5. Pitfall traps (small containers) buried in the ground which collect small animals, allowing to sample.
