Movement 1 ostinato
repeated notes and descending chromatic movement. Most often found in continuo doubled by basses. Sung in imitation by voices starting with altos-tenors basses or tenors-altos-basses. Oboe and violin play it I occasionally.
Ritornello theme features
dotted rhythm.
5ths and 6ths leaps. Played by flute oboe and violin
New movement 1 theme
introduced halfway through and features a leap of a 4th followed by repeated notes. Set in imitation with counter melody in bass of 2 semiquavers and a quaver. Section features sequences / antiphonal dialogue/ dominant pedal notes
