Quantitative data:
These are numerical measurements of a quantity or amount.
Qualitative data:
Non-numerical data. Usually textual or narrative form.
Strengths of using quantitative data:
It’s easy to interpret.
It can be used for comparisons.
Weaknesses of using quantitative data:
It does not allow the participants to give a reasoning for their answer.
Strengths of using qualitative data:
It’s personal.
It’s more details and gives the psychologist understanding of their answer.
Weaknesses of using qualitative data:
It cannot be calculated, it has to be operationalised.
It cannot be compared.
