The Battle of Loos
25th September 1915 - 8th October 1915. British generals in charge were called General French & General Haig. Troops were mostly replacements, officers newly promoted and inexperienced. Tactics included artillery bombardment, use of gas and infantry attack.
The Battle of Somme
July 1st 1916 - November 18th 1916. General Haig. Tactics included Artillery bombardment, mines and infantry attack. Some barbed wire was broken. One bomb detonated early which warned Germans.
The Battles of Arras
Began 9th April 1917, preceded by a four day bombardment, ended May 16th 1917. General Haig and General Robert Niville. Army were well prepared. Destroyed German Artillery.
