Give me an example of the project or initiative that you started on your own. It can be a non-business one. What prompted you to get started?
In my previous job, we always take long time to prepare for an event activities ideas. That’s why I created an event generator. After, we were very past of delivering event preparations and we manage to finish work without taking work at home.
Tell me about a time you had to work on several projects at once. How did you handle this?
At a previous job, we were working on a project with tight deadlines because of the investors requirements. While working that I have to
Describe a situation in which you felt you had not communicated well enough. What did you do? How did you handle it?
During a project, my team and I had a miscommunication about who’s going to present the project, as I assumed I would since I led the project and created the code idea. However one of my teammate wanted to present the project as well.
Realizing this late, I discussed it with my teammates to ensure everyone would have a chance to present. We turned the presentation into a true team presentation where everybody had their parts to present our project.
Tell me about when you had to deal with conflict within your team. How was the conflict solved? How did you handle that? How would you deal with it now?
When I told management I was leaving, they were unhappy and worried about the transition. To help, I prepared all the necessary workload and papers a year in advance and held several meetings to make sure everything was covered. In the end, the handover went smoothly, and it made the transition easier for everyone.
Give me an example of a time you had to take a creative and unusual approach to solve a coding problem. How did this idea come to your mind? Why do you think it was unusual?
When building our app’s notification system, I needed a way to reliably send alerts without duplicates and handle events from anywhere in the app. I came up with a creative approach: I centralized notifications in a backend controller, stored events in the database, used a poller to trigger a worker that ensured each notification was processed only once, and then sent it via cloud tasks to trigger push notifications. This idea came from wanting to decouple notifications from frontend components while keeping them reliable and scalable, and it was unusual because most systems send notifications directly from events without coordinating workers to avoid duplicates.
Describe a situation in which you worked diligently on a project and it did not produce the desired results. Why didn’t you get the desired results? What did you learn from the experience?
I worked on a feature that used the device camera for both photos and video, but we weren’t able to deliver everything we planned within the sprint. We realized partway through that supporting video required physical devices and extra setup, which slowed progress more than expected. That experience taught me how important it is to lock down requirements and technical constraints early before committing to a plan.
Give an example of an important project goal you reached and how you achieved it.
One important project goal I reached was delivering a key feature on time despite a tight deadline. I achieved it by pushing myself, asking a lot of questions, and meeting multiple times with my manager to fully understand the requirements. Through this experience, I learned not to be afraid to speak up when I’m blocked or unsure, because clarity leads to better results.
Describe a situation in which you experienced difficulty in getting others to accept your ideas. What was your approach? How did this work? Were you able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way?
Tell me about a situation when you were responsible for project planning. Did everything go according to your plan? If not, then why and what kind of counteractions did you have to take?
Tell me about a situation when you made a mistake at work. What exactly happened, and how did you deal with it? What steps did you take to improve the situation?
Tell me about a time when you worked with someone who was not completing his or her share of the work. How did you handle the situation? Did you discuss your concern with your coworker? With your manager? If yes, how did your coworker respond to your concern? What was your manager’s response?
Describe a situation when you worked effectively under pressure. How did you feel when working under pressure? What was going on, and how did you get through it?
