What are the three types of bonding?
Metallic, covalent and ionic bonding.
What is ionic bonding?
The electromagnetic force between oppositely charged ions after the transfer of electrons.
What is covalent bonding?
The force binding two atoms that are sharing atoms.
What is metallic bonding?
The electrostatic force gluing metal atoms in place, by a sea of delocalised electrons.
In an exothermic reaction, what happens to the bonds of the reactants?
They break, releasing energy to form new products.
In an endothermic reaction, what happens to the bonds of the reactants?
The reactants absorb energy creating new bonds.
