Osteogenic Cells
Stem cells located in the periosteum, endosteum, and Haversian/Volkmann canals. They undergo cell division to differentiate into osteoblasts.
Osteoblasts
Bone producing cells. Synthesize and creae collagen fibers + other material necessary for calcification. They get trapped in their secretion and become osteocytes.
Osteocytes
Mature bone cells representing the main cell of bone tissue. Support bone metabolism by promoting exchange in nutrients and wastes with circulatory system.
Osteoclasts
Resorption of osteocytes to facilitate bone remodelling (destruction). Promotes natural growth process, bone tissue regeneration, repair, and adaption to stress.
