Long bones
Consisted of compact bone and spongy bone at the ends. Found in arms and legs and have a long, thin shape to assist and work as a lever for movement.
Ex: femur, tibia, fibula, humerus, radius and ulna
Flat bones.
Are shaped like flat plates, have broad surfaces. Their function is to protect and provide surfaces for many muscles to attach to.
Ex: ribs, scapula, sternum, skull bones.
Short bones
Have a cubed shape and provides support, strength and stability.
Ex: wrist, kneecap and ankles
Irregular bones
Have a shape unlike other bone types. Various functions including protection of the spinal cord.
Ex: vertebrae, sacrum, coccyx, mandible (jaw bone), hyoid bone
