Hands on hips and push inwards
What should you look for in inspection?
Symmetry in contours of breast Tethering Dimpling of skin Visible masses Erythema +/- abnormal scaling Nipple retraction
What position should you palpate in?
At 45 degrees with arm behind head
How do you palpate?
Divide breast into 4 quadrants plus axillary tail and nipple making small circular movements
Palpate axillary lymph nodes whilst supporting arm
Palpate nipple and inspect nipple discharge
Supraclavicular fossa for lymphadenopathy
