• service sector now accounts for 50% of contributions to GDP + projected to grow further

• Has huge inequality gaps with more billionaires than the UK but more people living in extreme poverty than Africa
• struggles to invest in pub. infras. - majority of population is still dependent on agri-business and many on subsistence farming - still in emerging and developing stage.

• After establishing a democracy , = strong diplomatic relations with UK , US and other western countries .
• trusted well as a member of WTO and UN, and global impressions of India have been fairly good.
