What is calorimetry?
The measurement of the quantity of heat exchanged, released or absorbed during a chemical reaction.
What are calorimeters used for? How?
To find the energy content of foods by burning it and measuring the energy yields in terms of the increase in temperature, or by measuring the specific heat of a substance.
Difference between endothermic and exothermic reactions.
Exo - when energy is transferred to the surrounding.
Endo - when energy is taken in from the surroundings.
Method for calorimetry?
Equation for calorimetry?
Q = m x C x change in T Q - heat energy m - mass of water C - specific heat of water change in T - change in temperature (T2 - T1)
