When is the future tense used?

1. When speaking about future events that are some distance away (not immediate)

Voy a hablar con el medico.
I am going to talk with the doctor (very soon).
Hablaré con el medico.
I will talk with the doctor (at some point in the future).

2. To speculate about current situations.

¿Donde estará el medico?
Where could the doctor be?
Tendrá una emergencia.
He must have an emergency.

How do you form a future tense verb?

Answer 2

Add the future tense endings (all the same for -ar, -er, and -ir) to the infinitive form of the verb.
