Who was Cavellini?
Cavallini was an Italian clarinetist and Composer. He studied at the Milan Conservatory and had a successful career as a touring virtuoso (often playing his own compositions) and as principle clarinetist of La Scala. He was popularly known as the Paganini of the clarinet and his playing inspired Verdi to write several clarinet solos in his operas.
