What are Mitochondria and what do they do?
The “powerhouse” of the cell. Does cellular respiration and creates ATP (adenosine triphosphate).
What are Chloroplasts and what do they do?
Organelles found in plants that undergo photosynthesis. They are filled with Chlorophyll, which are green.
What are the components of Mitocondria?
Outer membrane
Intermembrane space
Inner Membrane (cristae)
Mitochondrial Matrix
Contains: ATP synthesis molecules
Ribosomes
DNA
Granolas
What are the components of Chloroplasts?
Outer Membrane
Intermembrane space
Inner Membrane
Inside:
Stroma (liquids)
Thyakloids
Granum (stacks of thyakloids)
What are Peroxisomes and what do they do?
Specialised metabolic compartments bounded by a single membrane.
Produces Hydrogen Peroxide and converts it into water, which is used to break down different types of molecules.
What is the Cytoskeleton and what does it do?
The Cytoskeleton are the support beams for the cell, they come in 3 sizes and they help provide stability, shape, and structure to the cell, as well as helping motor proteins move.
