A

Loss of structural integrity or pathological increased mobility of C1 and/or C2

Name the causes of cervical instability.

A
  • Neck trauma (e.g. RTA or sports injury)
  • Inflammatory arthritis (e.g. RA)
  • Congenital or genetic disorders (e.g. Ehlers-Danlos or Down syndrome)

These factors can lead to ligamentous injury or fracture affecting cervical stability.
