- Infected Triatomine bug bites human (Triatoma, rhodinius)
- T Cruzi epimastigotes have been dividing within the bug to create infective metacyclics.
- These are excreted in faeces after a blood meal. Highly itchy, making is scratch them into our skin.
- Circulating circulating trypomastigotes make their way to muscles where they become pseudocysts containing dividing amastigotes.
- Trypomastigotes continue to circulate creating potential for ongoing infection in other bugs.
