Three types of locks
Mortise cylinder and rim
Mortise locks
Latch bolt turned by handle and newer ones also have key operated deadbolt
Cylindrical lock
key in knob type or deadbolts - short length of latch so easy to pry open
For deadbolts easiest way is force door itself (dbl cylindrical has key hole on both sides)
Rim lock
Mounted on the inside of the door, sometimes has key hole but often not
Night latch has spring loaded bolt with beveled edge facing frame
Dead bolt is a dead bolt
Vertical dead bolt - rim lock has a bolt that slides vertically into receiver and does not cross door opening meaning almost impossible to pry open
