1
Q

What are correlations? What will and won’t they tell us?

A

Correlations: the relationship between two variables
- will provide that a relationship exists & if it’s positive/negative
- will NOT provide if it is a cause and effect relationship

Q

When to use Spearman correlation

A
  1. when examining the relationship between ordinal variables (ranked, birth order)
  2. when the form of the relationship between two variables are curved/exponential

8
Q

When to use the point-based correlation

A

when one variable is dichotomous (yes/no answer) and the other is on an interval/ratio scale
- CLOSELY RELATED TO THE INDEPENDENT MEASURES T-TEST
