Direct object pronouns
- A direct object shows on what the verb is acting.
- A direct object pronoun are pronouns used to replace direct object nouns. E.g. In English “me” is used instead of “I”
- In Spanish
A. “Me” replaces “me”; “nos” replaces “us”;
B. “te” replaces “you (informal);”os” replaces “all of you” (informal);
C. “lo” replaces “him”, “it” or “you” (formal); los replaces them, you;
D. “La” replaces “her” “it” or “you” (formal); las replaces la).
Placement of direct object pronouns.
- Normally before the verb. E.g. Carlos no te conoce.
- If the main verb appears in the infinitive form, the direct object pronoun can be either before the verbal phrase or after the infinitive. If the pronoun comes after the infinitive, it is attached to it.
E.g. Estoy ayuda’ntote.
