Fire reaching a gabled attic in a Garden Apartment will find a huge lumber yard of fuel and unlimited air supply. What are the tactics at this fire

• Once the attic is fully involved the use of a ladder pipe is questionable
• If the attic is opened up by the fire, and the attic pipe can get a good shot into the attic void, this tactic may be successful. If not, the result may be just increased water damage on the lower floors
• The roof will burn away in a short time, the sooner it goes the better, because then it will be safe to operate on the top floor
• It might be better to use the ladder pipe to protect the fire wall and extinguish any fire spreading on the roofing.
• The stairway is not necessarily a safe working platform
