Answer 1

• Took place in 1922
• Man named Flitcraft left his real estate office in Tacoma and
  never returned.
• Nobody new why until 1927 when Mrs. Flitcraft came to the
  detective agency where spade was then working, claiming that there
  was a man in Spokane that looked like her husband.
• Flitcraft said that near a construction site, a beam fell and almost hit and killed him.
• He later went away to settle in Spokane and get married.
• His new life was not that different from his old life.

What happens after Spade finishes his story?

• Cairo arrives
• Tells them that the youth is still outside watching the house
• Cairo claims that he is ready to pay for the figurine
• Brigid says she doesn’t have the it
• Both begin to argue
