A violation against the Explorers manual or any other Department orders may result in disciplinary procedures
Receiving Complaints
Citizens wanting to file a complaint aginst Metro will have their complaint sent to the Internal Affairs Bureau.
Complaints Against Explorers
These complaints will be sent straight to Program Coordinator
Harassment of Complaints
No Explorer will harass or bully the Explorer who sent a complaint against them or the department
Processing Complaints
Complaints against Explorers will be thoroughly reviewed. The Explorer will be notified of the charges and told to give their explanation.
Unfounded
The investigation indicates that the act or acts did not occur or did not involve Explorers
Not Sustained
The investigation failed to discover sufficient evidence to
clearly prove or disprove the allegation made on the complaint
Exonerated
The investigation indicates the act or acts did occur but were justified, lawful, and proper
Sustained
The investigation discloses sufficient evidence to clearly prove the allegation made in the complaint
Misconduct not based on Complaint
may be used whether or not the original complaint is
sustained. When the investigation discloses misconduct which was not part of the original complaint, this classification will be used
Policy Failure
the act did occur and was in compliance with policy, however, it was also determined that the allegation of misconduct could have been prevented had policy been more clear or complete.
Complaints of Criminal Activity
Could bring criminal charges.
Duty to Cooperate/Reply
Be fully open when asked questions regarding investigation. Failure to cooperate may result in termination.
Termination
turn in his/her Explorer I.D., Policy Manual,
and all uniforms. If the terminated Explorer fails to turn in the issued property, an LVMPD crime report will be filed and the terminated Explorer will be prosecuted

Appeal of Disciplinary Action
Any disciplinary action shall be open to appeal to the Program Coordinator of the Exploring
program. Appeals for termination shall only be appealed to the Lieutenant of the Exploring
Program, or in his absence, the Captain
