What is co-codamol used for?

• Short-term relief of moderate pain that is not relieve by paracetamol or ibuprofen

• Do not take longer than directed by prescriber: contains codeine which can cause addiction if taken continuously for more than three days
• Codeine may cause drowsiness or changes in vision so do not drive if affected in this way

When to not take co-codamol?

Answer 3

• Under 12 years
• Breast feeding
• Taking other paracetamol-containing products
• Drink excessive amounts of alcohol
• Pregnancy

• Taken MAOIs for depression
• Have asthma
• Serious problems with liver or kidneys

Dosage

Answer 5

Adults: 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours
Children 16-18: 1-2 tablets every 6 hours
Children 12-15: 1 tablet every 6 hrs
