What is a control group?
Group that doesn’t receive treatment and is used for comparison against the test group
What is an outlier?
Anomalous data value that does not fit the pattern of the data
Why might you ignore or include an outlier?
- IGNORE: due to a measuring or recording error
- IGNORE: not typical
- INCLUDE: it’s a genuine result
How do we clean data?
- Identify and either correct or remove inaccurate data value
- Remove units/symbols from data
- Decide what to do about the now missing data
What are extraneous variables?
