Q

What is the purpose of Construction Meetings?

A

Held during construction to observe the progress of the work and address issues on-site.

17
Q

What is the purpose of the Post-Construction Meeting?

A

Held with the client to review the project.

18
Q

What is the purpose of the Program Phase?

A

define the needs, contexts, methods and wants of the client.

19
Q

For architects, “programming” is the process by which…

A

the overall requirements for the building are defined.

20
Q

A “needs analysis” is also referred to which phase?

21
Q

Conducting a ____ is the most crucial stage of the design process.

A

needs analysis

22
Q

What is the purpose of a needs analysis?

A

To determine the nature of the systems, their infrastructure, and the system budget.

To identify the activities that the end users need to perform, and then developing the functional descriptions of the systems that support those needs.

23
Q

What is “benchmarking”?

A

Surveying other existing facilities

24
Q

What is the purpose of the “program report”?

A

To inform the client what the system will do for them in a format that they can understand and approve.

25
What is the purpose of the "program meeting"?
To exchange learned information as a group that will help determine what functions and features are required to support the end user’s applications and needs.
26
Who should be present during a program meeting?
Administrative representatives/stakeholders, including owner executives, facility managers, department heads, and funding organizations End users, including representatives from each organization or department that will use the new systems AV technology managers, representing the technical side of the owner’s AV operational needs IT representatives, to address issues in utilizing or accessing the IT system and how it relates to the user's activities Architects, to provide input regarding space allocation and planning Program or construction managers, who may be onboard as stakeholders in the overall project outcome
27
What is the first component in the program report?
Executive Summary
28
What is the purpose of the "Executive Summary"?
To provide a description that is typically brief, and short, so the reader can quickly understand the main facets of the project without diving into too many details.
29
The "Executive Summary" should included the following:
Overview of the project — including what the facility is, how it serves the owner, and why it is being built, upgraded or renovated. Overview of the programming process — including who was interviewed at the departmental or organizational level or other individuals who were important during the information-gathering step Overview of the systems — identifying what and where the systems are, their overall type and quality, and which users they serve. Any special issues — including any particular concerns of the owner or the project team, e.g., financial issues that could leave the systems budget underfunded, or physical problems such as inadequate equipment or insufficient control room space in an existing plan or facility. Reference to the overall budget — which could be the actual figure or a reference to the budget section of the report.
