what is a synapse?
gap between two nerve cells
what is the process of communication between excitable cells - 10 steps
what are the two types of synapse?
EPSP- excitatory post synaptic potential
IPSP - inhibitory post synaptic potential
what does EPSP do
stimulate an AP in the post synaptic neurone
what does IPSP do
inhibit action potential
e.g. glycine and GABA which open Cl channelled that hyperpolarise the cell so it does not reach the potential
how is there communication in the cardiac muscle
gap junctions - spreads depolarisation to adjacent cells located on the intercalated discs
