What should you do if there is a comms failure whilst in VMC?

Answer 1

• Continue flight in VMC
• Land at the nearest aerodrome
• Report to ATC as soon as possible

What should you do if there is a comms failure whilst in IMC?

Answer 2

• Maintain last assigned speed and level (or minimum flight altitude if higher) for 20 mins if failure to report to compulsory point
• Continue on your current flight plan to navaid at destination, or if required, hold descent
• Commence descent at last assigned estimated arrival time, if not given then descent to current flight plan estimated time of arrival
• Do the instrumental approach for the specified navaid
• Land within 30 mins of estimated time of arrival or estimated arrival time, whichever is later
