Condition Precedent

Contract Sum
The agreed price the client pays the contractor for completing the work, subject to adjustments.
Counterclaim
A claim made by the defendant against the claimant in response to the original claim.
Critical Path
The longest sequence of dependent tasks that determines the minimum project duration.
Damages
Monetary compensation awarded for loss due to breach of contract or negligence.
Default
Failure to perform a contractual obligation.

Clerk of Works
Employer’s site inspector who monitors construction quality and progress.
