This poem was written about how during battle his tank was shelled but all his crew miraculously survived ,he and his crew later came back to the battlefield he sees the soldier dead who had shelled his tank previously. The poem WFTG was written by Jessie Pope. Her aim with the poem was to recruit people to join the war. It was published in the daily mail which lots of young working men would have read. She was a woman and no one in her family was killed during the war meaning she didn’t know the true horrors of war or the hardships that came along with it. After the war went on and people began to discover the Terrors she was ridiculed and mocked for her poem and ignorance to the truth
