Answer 1

• Depo injection - lasts 8-12 weeks, progestogen
• Implant - progestogen, lasts for 3 years
• IUS - progestogen releasing, 5 years, periods lighter, shorter, less painful
• IUD - copper coil, 5-10 years, periods heavier, longer, more painful
• Sterilisation - permanent

What are the contraceptive options w user failure?

Answer 2

• Patch - oestrogen and progestogen, lighter and less painful bleeds
• Vaginal ring - O+P, 3 weeks, insert into vagina
• COCP - O+P, reduces pain, bleeding and PMS, not effective if D+V
• POP - P, can be used for those who are >35 and smoke and breastfeeding women
• Male condom - may slip or rip
• Female condom/diaphragm
• Natural family planning

Children <16 can consent to their own treatment if they are believed to have enough intelligence, competence and understanding
