Who is regulated by the Core Duties ?
All BSB regulated persons or unregistered barristers
What is the purpose of the Outcomes in the BSB Handbook?
They are not mandatory rules but they are factors to have in mind when considering how the Core Duties should be applied in particular circumstances.
What are the three purposes of the Rules?
(a) to supplement the Core Duties and are mandatory
(b) set out the requirements for authorisation and the scope of practice for different types of BSB authorised people
(c) sets out the standards which must be met by a person before they undertake specific work that is regulated by the BSB.
What is the purpose of the Guidances?
to assist in interpretation and application of the Core Duties and Rules
Who is included in the term barrister?
Under rI7, barristers with a practising certificate, barristers undertaking pupillage and unregistered barristers.

Rule rC16 provides that CD2 (as well as being subject to CD1) is subject to obligations under CD3 (honesty & integrity), CD4 (independence) and CD8 (to not discriminate unlawfully against any person).
