  • quickly thrust inward & upward, trying to push out the object
  • repeat until they’re either breathing normally, or unresponsive

A
  • do chest thrusts
  • stand behind them
  • reach under their armpits
  • 1 hand in fist, other hand around it, fist against center of their chest
  • thrust straight backwards forcefully, trying to push out the object - try not to put pressure on ribs
  • repeat until they’re breathing normally, or unresponsive

  • same as for adult, except if needed you can kneel behind them instead of stand
  • find belly button
  • 1 hand in fist, other hand around it, fist against belly button
  • quickly thrust inward & upward, trying to push out the object
  • repeat until they’re either breathing normally, or unresponsive

if someone who was choking becomes unresponsive, what do you do?
- don't check for a pulse - just go ahead and start CPR - before opening airway, open mouth wide & check for object - remove it with your fingers
