Question 1

What should the CPP consultation do?

Answer 1

• share information or intelligence about the particular case
• confirm if the referral meets the threshold of the CPP
• discuss any immediate action required to secure the immediate safety of the child
• consider whether a multi-agency approach is required

Question 2

What happens after the CPP consulation?

Answer 2

An IJIP is created, generally by Oranga Tamariki and a copy forwarded to police within 24 hours.

Question 3

What does the IJIP consider?

Answer 3

• Immediate safety of the child involved and any other children who may be identified as being at risk
• referral to medical practitioner and authority to do so
• management of the initial interview of the child
• if a joint visit is required
• collection of any physical evidence
• any further actions agreed upon by Oranga Tamariki and Police
