Describe Step 1- Security Crime Scene Integrity
Stages of Crime Investigation
Allow only essential personnel in; exclude public, media, family, and unnecessary officers.
Set up cordons: outer (public/staging) and inner (forensic zone) with a single Common Approach Path (CAP).
Use physical barriers (tape, screens, vehicles) with wide perimeters.
Keep an entry log and have cordon officers track who enters/exits.
Establish a command point outside the inner cordon.
Cover the primary scene and all possible entry/exit routes.
Protect privacy with screens or covers (even from aerial view).
Ensure continuous protection until the scene is officially released.
Enforce movement discipline: controlled movement, clean/dirty zones, PPE, glove changes.
